Recently, a special family in our church gifted this book to our family. I could hardly wait to use it for our family devotions! It’s divided up by song and unpacks the background of why it was written and explains the purpose of the hymn. It also features beautiful artwork that was done by one of the co-authors. Another reason I love this book is the 2 authors are incredibly inspirational to me personally, Joni Eareckson Tada and Bobbie Wolgemuth. Both ladies life stories are examples of living the gospel no matter life circumstances. Bobbie passed away after a valient fight with cancer and her 2 daughters “rised up and called her blessed” at her funeral with the most inspiring euology which included them singing some of these very songs. My prayer is that my girls will someday rise up in a similar fashion. This book will be a sweet tool to teach them these truths. If you don’t have kids, don’t worry! This book is great for you too! Anyone can be inspired by the history and theology in these pages. If you aren’t familiar with #JoniEarecksonTada story, please look it up! To this day she still infuses wisdom to my soul when I see her speaking/posting! I also mention another woman I respect is Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth. After Bobbie died, her husband pursued Nancy and they eventually God married! My husband and I were guests at the wedding and it was the most God honoring wedding I’ve ever attended! I felt like I could have blinked and imagined being in heaven! Any teaching/reading you can find from #RobertWolgemuth or #NancyDeMossWolgemuth I HIGHLY recommend! They are inspiring to me as they desire to live there lives for God’s glory!
